“Cities are places where millions of people live together in solitude.”
-Henry David. Thoreau
I like to look at the windows of high-rise facades while wandering around the city. Looking at the rugged skyline, imagine that every individual living in the city, through the windows, becomes a part of the landscape. Gradually, the idea of making an urban sculpture composed of windows came into being. This work uses five to seven types of cement with different textures. The elements are copied in large quantities using the mold-turning technique, and then mounted on the frame surface using a mosaic-like technique. The simplified image of the window only retains its basic geometric shape. With the stacking and logic similar to Tetris, the urban space is flattened through the texture of different textures of cement.
